PORTLAND MAX LIGHT RAIL
Westside MAX

The Westside extension was the first expansion to the original fifteen miles of MAX, and it more than doubled the system's length when it opened in 1998.  The eighteen miles to Hillsboro includes what is likely the most ambitious and costliest light rail segment anywhere in the country, the deep Robertson Tunnel, which extends three miles under West Hills.

In this view a train has recently emerged from the tunnel's eastbound portal, and has passed beneath high, old, handsome Vista Bridge.  The station just ahead for it is Goose Hollow/SW Jefferson St.  And after two further stops it will be in downtown, and on the original route.
