This is another view of train activity in the median of the Dan
Ryan Expy, not too far from the end of the line. A long Red Line
train is heading outbound.
And thus many pages after this series started, it ends. Chicago is like
no other place in the country with respect to the visibility and
venerability of the Loop. And there are many other features
that endear the
CTA to the urban rail enthusiast. Much of the system is old,
yet the the area has had the wherewithal to extend or build lines to
both major airports, and to provide service to whole new areas of the metropolis. There are problems, including chronic
financial pressures. But it works. It is good. |
