CHICAGO HEAVY RAIL
Dan Ryan, Southbound

This image is from not far from the end of the Red Line.  An outbound train glides by.  Some day this route may be extended further out from its current terminal; expressway medians lie fallow awaiting such future developments.

In a city with arteries named for John F. Kennedy, Dwight D. Eisenhower and Adlai Stevenson, the "Dan Ryan" name likely presents some recognition issues for those not familiar with local politics.  Some quick Web research divulges that he was President of the Cook County Board of Commissioners, and died in 1961.  And he was a major force in getting the Chicago expressway system built.
