This view along Route 10 goes back to
PCC days on Philadelphia's streetcar network. That route terminates
outbound at 63rd and Malvern in the Overbrook neighborhood. Its
tracks run together for a few feet with the Route 15 Girard
Streetcar at the corner of Lancaster Ave. and Girard St. Route 15
switches in, and almost immediately switches out.
Philadelphia retained much street-running track not related to the
Subway-Surface routes into the 1980s and early 1990s. Some of these
long-lasting lines featured downtown running along north-south
streets. All the non-subway routes, except for restored Route 15,
have been taken out of service. |
