SACRAMENTO LIGHT RAIL
Terminal, Amtrak Abreast

The short downtown extension -- about one-half mile -- to Sacramento Valley, opened in late 2006.  It ends adjacent to the Amtrak station platforms.  In this scene an eastbound California Zephyr was making its stop, soon to continue from the Bay Area on to Chicago.

Light rail from here goes along the Folsom Corridor, either to Sunrise, or all the way out to Historic Folsom.  The full route is about 30 miles long, ranking it in the upper tier of U.S. lines for distance.  It takes about 55 minutes to travel between the two farthest locations.
