In this photo a Red Line train works westbound along SW
Morrison St. near the City Center turnback area, then in use by that route.
After a few years into its history, runs for that route were extended along the existing Blue Line under the West
Hills, and out to its present terminal in Beaverton.
It was a late afternoon, and summer was about to shift toward autumn.
The planted trees along Morrison showed a fairly young existence. They continue to grow,
and Portland's downtown is highly unusual for its leafiness.
The paving blocks
that mark the right of way were rescued from street improvements elsewhere.
Their presence denotes to motorists that the territory is restricted to
light rail traffic only. |
