PORTLAND MAX LIGHT RAIL
Skidmore Fountain, Inbound

The train in the distance has just descended from Steel Bridge -- a mammoth structure which is featured in the next Free Rail Zone segment.  From that bridge, the Red and Blue Lines turn sharply south to run along NW and SW 1st Ave.  There are three stations along this stretch, Old Town/Chinatown, Skidmore Fountain, and SW Oak St.  Then the line switches to its generally east-west alignment through the heart of downtown.

People are waiting at the middle stop in this view.  The overpass carries Burnside Bridge traffic.  The Willamette River is off to the right, one block plus the width of a narrow city park away.
