Unlike any other U.S. city with direct airport light
rail service, the Hiawatha Line tunnels under the airport and continues
onward to reach further outbound destinations.
Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is one of
the busier fields in the country. The main terminal is served by
the underground Airport-Lindbergh Terminal station, reached only after
some walking, and various escalators. A train is at that station
in this view; it will next continue to a second Airport stop, this one
at street level, serving the
less busy Humphrey Terminal. Service between the two terminals,
unlike elsewhere on the line, operates 24 hours a day, and is free. |
