MINNEAPOLIS LIGHT RAIL
Passengers Discharged

For about the first half-year of its existence -- the briefest blip in the ultimate history of the Hiawatha Line -- outbound service terminated at Fort Snelling, the twelfth station to the south on the original route.  A large, free park-and-ride lot there has been a convenience for many commuters from opening day onward.

At the time of this photo, a month or so after the line started operation, construction was well underway for the rest of the route south out to Mall of America.  The route number for the line is the same as the state highway number for Hiawatha Ave., 55.
