By the
next stop out from Government Plaza, Downtown East/Metrodome, the line has reached
the beginning of a long stretch of off-street running. The outbound two-car train in this view is curving
from S. 5th St. onto
that right of way.
The rather ungainly looking Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome
lies beyond. For a number of years both the Twins and Vikings, baseball
and football teams, played here. Baseball returns outdoors in
2010 to a new stadium by the extended downtown end of the line, Target
Field.
A second light rail route
will branch off just beyond this station. The Central Corridor
line will connect the downtowns of Minneapolis and St. Paul. |
