This photo is at the Sheppard-Yonge western end of the
Sheppard line. This line is the newest in the system, opening in
2002. It extends but four stations east from here, to Don Mills.
The wide doors and narrow windows
in view are features of the newest model of subway car in operation, the T1, manufactured
by Bombardier.
TTC is preparing to award a major new contract to Bombardier for the
next generation of subway cars. Their silhouette is anticipated to
be quite different from the boxy lines of all the current cars.
Deliveries are anticipated between 2009 and 2011. |
