Old buildings
along Brooklyn's Broadway overlook the elevated Jamaica Line in this
scene. The Myrtle Avenue El used to cross
over just ahead, and continued to the right to downtown Brooklyn (and once
long, long ago on across the Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan).
That
entire part of the line is gone now, but I rode it in my youth, and
remember well the antiquated cars that once plied the tracks. |
