STATEN ISLAND HEAVY RAIL
Tottenville, Holiday Quiet

Cars wait for another time on a storage track at Tottenville in this view.  During the brief minor-league season of the Staten Island Yankees, SIR operates shuttles between St. George and Stadium before and after special events games.  It's a very short run along the former North Shore branch.

That entire line, which connects with trackage in New Jersey and which hasn't seen Staten Island passenger traffic in over a half century, had been completely out of service since the early 1990s.  A portion of it was restored in 2006 to provide freight service at the Howland Hook Marine Terminal along Arthur Kill.  Initial planning is underway evaluating options for rebuilding a new North Shore passenger route.
