A Metrorail train waits to begin its run at the
southern terminal, Dadeland South. Stations average about one for
every mile of the line. The entire run takes 47 minutes to complete. Maximum speeds
along the way can reach 58 miles an hour.
Miami-Dade's 136 rail vehicles were provided by Transit
America, a later subsidiary of what for decades had been a major provider
of urban rail vehicles, Budd Co. Soon after
delivery of these vehicles in the mid-1980s, the company abandoned the railcar
