MIAMI-DADE HEAVY RAIL
Running on Center Track

Our train is riding along a brief stretch of center track because of repair work to the regular rails.    Puffy white clouds and a train in the opposite direction are visible through the window.

Much of the line south of downtown Miami, such as seen here, is  parallel and close to busy and wide U.S. 1.  There are some fairly high-density areas and major buildings along the way, but what appears below in this stretch seems to be the main highway and trees.

Metrorail first opened along much of its current route in 1984, and 1985, to the northwest.  By many accounts the line, so far at least, has not been among the more successful of the urban transit projects of the past several decades.
