CHICAGO HEAVY RAIL
Reflection at Roosevelt

The bright sun reflects with a glare spot in this view looking from the outbound platform at Roosevelt.  The next stop south for Green Line trains is almost three miles away -- the longest stretch between stations on the elevated portion of the CTA.  (The Red Line, running parallel and close by, makes one intermediate stop in that territory.)

The North Shore interurban line terminated at Roosevelt for many years, arriving from the Loop and from far, far beyond.  It was the sole user of the "L" trackage south from downtown to this station for more than two decades after the State St. subway opened.
