VANCOUVER LIGHT RAIL
Trackage and High Rises

This view shows the typical elevated character of the older routes, with numerous curves and ups and downs.  SkyTrain is fully separated from vehicular traffic, and its overall infrastructure has much resemblance to heavy rail systems.  Its vehicles, however, are quite tiny, and the trains, short in length.

Frequent service -- every few minutes during peak periods -- makes up for the limited capacity of each run.  SkyTrain is highly unusual among the systems of North America in that its trains are totally automated.  No employee sits up front, or attends to the doors.
