TORONTO LIGHT RAIL
Dundas St., Looking East

This is a much broader view from looking eastbound along Dundas St. W. toward Yonge St.  Dundas undergoes several jogs as it crosses through center city.  Huge construction cranes are a very frequent part of the downtown landscape.

Public ownership of the city's transit system goes back to 1921.  The formation of a "super city," the Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto, in 1953, led to a much expanded transportation system.  The TTC, a component of the Municipality, was renamed from Toronto Transportation Commission to Toronto Transit Commission in 1954.
