TORONTO LIGHT RAIL
Streetcars Together

One streetcar directly follows another in this view looking eastbound along Dundas St. W. toward Yonge St.  The general street pattern of Toronto is aligned -- with numerous kinks and curves -- to be parallel with and perpendicular to the lakeshore.  East-west streets thus have a slight northeast-southwest tilt to them, and north-south streets angle a bit northwest as they head away from the water.

The Yonge-University-Spadina Subway passes under Yonge St. on one of its two north-south prongs through downtown.
