SEATTLE STREETCAR
Crossing Denny Way

In this view on a very dreary day the Space Needle lies some blocks beyond the outbound streetcar.  Denny Way is the cross street.  It is dividing line between the Denny Triangle (classified as a part of, or extension to, downtown), and the South Lake Union neighborhood.  Westlake Ave. becomes Westlake Ave. N.  The angling of the general pattern of the cross streets changes.

The South Lake Union Streetcar is the first of what one day may be four or more similar lines in the city.  It continues to attract a lot of public attention, much of it positive, some of it, including its often very low ridership and extremely low fare recovery, negative.  The future will be interesting.
