This local area is called, quaintly enough, Dogpatch.
Some of the city's oldest houses are nearby -- this area was not consumed by
fire after the 1906 earthquake. It's an official Historic District.
It was fairly early on a Sunday morning at the time of this view, and there
was little traffic
or activity about.
