This view is along West Portal Ave. on a
quiet December Sunday
afternoon. The trees are nearly bare.
The tracks pass
by a variety of neighborhood stores and
restaurants and residences in these few blocks. It's an area wonderfully reminiscent of
an earlier time in urban development.
Midway through 2007 the K-Ingleside line was through-routed with the
T-Third. Under this unusual arrangement K becomes T at West Portal
heading toward downtown, and T becomes K at Embarcadero heading
toward Balboa Park. Taken together, the entire route forms an
improbably-shaped flying "V" that comes not that far away from
returning to the starting point. |
