Red, White and Blue

TRAX vehicles that were acquired new were manufactured by Siemens, with two different models in service.  In addition the system bought at greatly reduced prices used cars from the San Jose area's Valley Transportation Authority.  All vehicles carry a red, white and blue paint scheme.  In 2008 UTA placed the largest single order ever received by Siemens for American light rail transit.  When delivered, the 77 units of the Avanto S70 model will more than double the present size of the fleet.

South Temple St. carries the routes along the southern perimeter of Temple Square, the worldwide headquarters for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, commonly known as the Mormon Church.  In this view the gothic towers of Assembly Hall rise behind the rail car on a very sunny day in early November.
