The Portland Streetcar has had much to do with the massive
redevelopment in the Pearl District.  Surrounding blocks have been, and
are being, transformed from mostly old warehouses to medium-rise residential development,
	often with first-floor  shops and
restaurants.  The neighborhood has become an arts district, and has
	achieved destination status.

The high clearance and part of the massive arch and
	roadway of Fremont Bridge are
prominent in this view looking north along NW 11th Ave. in the heart of the
	district.  The streetcar
	approaching is a
couple of blocks away, on its way to downtown and to Portland State, then
the last stop on the line. |
