PORTLAND MAX LIGHT RAIL
Two Levels, 2009

The lower level of Steel Bridge shows up in this scene, with its two tracks curving to and from Union Station.  The bridge is owned by the Union Pacific Railroad, which carries freight and Amtrak traffic below.  At the appropriate time one can see the Coast Starlight going to or coming from Los Angeles, or Cascades service that extends down to Eugene.

One of the MAX system's newest "Type 4" trains descends for the original downtown route in this scene.  Much has happened in Portland and vicinity in the first quarter-century of renewal of urban electric rail transit.

A ship is docked across the Willamette, by the grain elevators to the left.  There is a lot of transportation activity in this vicinity.
