PORTLAND MAX LIGHT RAIL
Two Different Systems

This image returns to a location covered earlier.  For two blocks SW 5th Ave. is like no other place in the nation.  Two different lanes along the same artery carry electric urban rail transit -- for two different systems.  On the left, MAX LRV #401 has deposited its passengers at the last stop, and its destination sign has been changed to read, temporarily, "NO SERVICE."  The Portland Streetcar seen to the right has stopped at its own station, and has a handful of further stops to go as it heads to the South Waterfront area.  The cross-track in the foreground belongs to the northbound Streetcar line.
