PORTLAND MAX LIGHT RAIL
Overlooking Union Station, 2008

There are particular locations in other cities where this transit observer returns to, visit after visit.  Such will be the case here in Portland, where from the northern walkway of the upper level of Steel Bridge one can get a rather magnificent view of venerable Union Station (opened in 1896), and of MAX light rail tracks near the traditional railroad property.

This scene dates to May, 2008.  Rails were in place for the complex choice of movements possible on MAX in this area; but there was still a lot of work to do.
