PORTLAND MAX LIGHT RAIL
Passing Old Buildings

Some interesting architecture, most of it carefully preserved, graces the part of the MAX route along NW 1st Ave.  Much of this territory is in the Skidmore/Old Town Historic District.

This photo is from a much earlier time on MAX, the single-line era before color coding came into use.  The car in view is from the original order for light rail vehicles, which began service with the inauguration of the line in 1986.  Those 100 series trains were manufactured by Bombardier.
