MAX station signs show the color for each of the lines
that service that location. As was then the case for all the downtown stations,
the full roster of the three earlier routes -- Blue, Red and Yellow -- stopped at Skidmore Fountain.
There is space on this sign for a fourth color. But in 2009 this
location lost, rather than gained, a route. The Yellow
Line, after partially descending from Steel Bridge, now turns away and off toward Union Station, and
then turns again sharply to run through downtown along the redone Portland Mall,
crossing the original downtown route along the way.
A rather
brief rain squall has just made its way through the area. The pavement
