PORTLAND MAX LIGHT RAIL
Storefronts and Trees

Traveling by MAX across downtown is a fairly slow -- sometimes frustrating -- process, as it is all through way through the Free Rail Zone.  The blocks are very short.  And there are traffic signals at every cross street.  Station stops sometimes seem to take longer than one might otherwise hope for.

The station sign to the right of the train is for Galleria/SW 10th Ave, then the last inbound stop on the Red Line.  There is much heavy-duty shopping in this area.  Even in the heart of downtown, trees seem to be everywhere.  It is a pleasant and somewhat unusual sight in a major American city.
