The "Vintage Trolley" fleet actually consists of crafted replicas.
The represent an approximation of
Portland's Council Crest streetcars of the 1920s, but with modern controls
to allow for routine passage along the MAX tracks. Car #511 was
waiting at its NE 11th Ave. terminal in this view.
With the coming of the Portland Mall in 2009, the trolley was removed from
the Eastside and Steel Bridge, and rerouted along Portland Mall -- a
decidedly inferior experience, in the opinion of this transit fan.
This segment next indulges in a few more
photos commemorating a one-day-a-week experience no longer offered on the
Eastside. |
