LOS ANGELES METRO LIGHT RAIL
Cultivation

Beyond the Chinatown station toward the northeast an open patch of land had been reclaimed from former rail yard use for cultivation by urban farmers at the time of this view.  It was a rather peculiar sight for one not expecting to see a large green plot in this distinctly urban, and often gritty, environment.

By 2006 public parkland was in evidence in part of this area.  A portion of the former "Cornfield" freight yards and shops had been redeveloped into the Los Angeles State Historic Park.
