LOS ANGELES METRO LIGHT RAIL
Blue Line Crossing Itself

Because of the one-way street patterns and the way the light rail loop proceeds through downtown Long Beach, the line's tracks need to cross over each other in the middle of Long Beach Blvd.   This photo was taken from the front end of a train bound for L.A., which after a block or so of left-hand running is progressing to the decidedly more conventional side.

A train bound for Long Beach waits for us in this view from years ago now, when the system was still new.  The finishing cosmetic and landscaping touches were being applied along the right of way.
