WASHINGTON, DC HEAVY RAIL
Overhead at National Airport

A train leaves the overhead structure at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in this view, heading into a stretch of subway toward Crystal City and the Pentagon.  Plantings and landscaping brighten the surroundings.

After two further joint stations underground the Yellow Line scoots directly into the District, whereas the Blue Line goes through Rosslyn (in Arlington), and then under Northwest Washington.  The lines meet again, on separate levels this time, at the busy downtown transfer point of L'Enfant Plaza.  It has taken the Yellow Line one stop to get there, and the Blue Line, nine.
