WASHINGTON, DC HEAVY RAIL
At College Park

On a rainy day near the end of the Conrail era, a freight heads toward DC while an inbound Green Line train picks up passengers at College Park-University of Maryland station.  Passengers may descend from the Metro platform here and use a pedestrian grade crossing to head toward the campus.

There is a small MARC commuter rail station at this location, along the former B&O route between Union Station and Baltimore.  From the platform looking south, away from the camera, one sees the rapid transit line arcing over the railroad tracks along a sweeping bridge.  It's a highly pleasant place at which to linger.

The Green Line's terminal to the northeast is one stop further out, at Greenbelt.
