NEW YORK CITY HEAVY RAIL
Going Underground to Jamaica

The old elevated structure in Jamaica was replaced quite a while ago now with a two-level subway.  The BMT Jamaica Line is below in the tunnel, and a connection to and from the Queens Blvd. former IND line is above it, with no interaction between the lines.

In this photo an MTA commuter train on the Long Island Rail Road zips along its own right of way to the major transfer point at Jamaica Station.  All these routes provide access in Jamaica to the new, automated light rail line to JFK Airport.
