A green signal shines for outbound Astoria
traffic, and a train from there curves its way into Queensboro Plaza's
lower level. The switches between former BMT and IRT at this
station represent the Flushing Line's only connection to the rest of the
New York City Subway system. With the two lines joining for
this station, this is a fascinating location. In addition, there
are fine views of Manhattan and of industrial and
commercial Long Island City. It is hard not to
spend some time here if you have time to spend, and you know about it, and you have that
certain urban or railroad inclination. |
