NEW YORK CITY HEAVY RAIL
Bridge in the Distance

The 22 Ave.-Bay Parkway station on the F line is elevated.  Part of Washington Cemetery lies beyond in this view looking west.  In the distance the huge towers of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge are indistinct, but abrupt, images on the landscape.

Signs on the system abbreviate avenue to "Av" without a period, a good economy of paint.  The pages use the more uniformly accepted "Ave." for the shortened version of the word.  Curiously the "Parkway" in this scene is not abbreviated at all.
