There is amazing complexity of switches, tracks and elevated
structures in the area. Jamaica traffic continues straight ahead
in this view.
The overpass carries the L Line, the 14th St.-Canarsie Local.
A major transit yard is nearby, adding its own connections on the
trackage heading down to ground level.
Once upon a much busier time, before the IND usurped Fulton St., that
street's elevated line was also part of the nearby transit mix. It must
have been a glorious area (and era) for train-watching. |
