The doors are closing on this inbound train, under
the conductor's control from within the
rear cab. It's a different arrangement from that used on the rest of the city
system. So is fare collection, which only takes place at and
near St. George,
whether inbound or outbound. It's a strange feeling walking onto a
platform elsewhere, and then entering a train without having to deposit
money or swipe a card or worry about proof of payment.
The regular fare on the SIR is $2.00, and as a component of MTA all the
MetroCard rules apply. A one-day pass for $7.50 lets the owner enjoy
this line and the subways and bus routes of the other four boroughs as
well. |
