The Blue Line ends at a three-track terminal
underground at O'Hare. The platforms are very long, and one set
of rails sometimes
accommodates more than one train. Signs point the way to the next
train that will take riders toward center city.
Planning for the fairly near future calls for the operation of premium-fare non-stop
service from O'Hare to center city. The runs will turn
off the Blue Line to a new underground terminal downtown.
And -- a changed concept for American heavy rail: the line will utilize the
CTA infrastructure, but will be operated by private enterprise. |
