CHICAGO HEAVY RAIL
Track Work

This photo is from 1982.  Today's Brown Line to Kimball was the Ravenswood Service then, and the "B" on the front train sign speaks to the era of skip-stop service, then in vogue on most of Chicago's lines.  These well-used vehicles were built by the St. Louis Car. Co. in the 1950s.

The "L" barely visible to the left carries the four tracks of the routes up to and from Howard and Wilmette.  Track work has momentarily stopped our progress, but we were soon be moving again and joining the other route.  And I was enjoying the moment.
