CHICAGO HEAVY RAIL
Approaching Lake and Wells

This photo is from the westbound platform at the Clark/Lake station.  It is an early morning in winter.  An inbound Green Line train with its bright headlights is on the far side of the junction above Lake and Wells.  That crossing is the most complex and busiest on the system.  Traffic through there is controlled by Tower 18, prominently in view.

There has been much urban rebuilding in and near this part of downtown in recent years.  And downtown has greatly expanded, with offices and residential development bulging outward from the Loop on all of its sides.
