BOSTON HEAVY RAIL
Ashmont

This photo is at the end of the line on the Ashmont Branch, with the train in view entering the station to pick up inbound patrons.  Outbound trains discharge on the far platform and then go beyond the station to switch onto the appropriate track and reverse directions.  The train in this photo is in the 01700 series, manufactured by UTDC in the late 1980s.

Ashmont is the older, and by far the shorter, of the two Red Line branches.  It goes but four stations beyond the last joint stop at JFK/UMass.
