TORONTO LIGHT RAIL
CLRVs

The cars in the 4000 and 4100 series are known as CLRVs -- Canadian Light Rail Vehicles.  They go back to the late 1970s and 1980, and were designed by UTDC, Urban Transportation Development Corporation.  Unlike most surface rail lines elsewhere in Canada and U.S.A., all Toronto streetcars have trolley poles.

This scene is near the Main Station Loop on the 506 Carlton line.  That loop is at one of five locations along the Bloor-Danforth Subway where streetcars terminate in a protected zone of free exchange.
