TORONTO LIGHT RAIL
Tracks Crossing

The rear of a 505 Dundas streetcar is in view as the vehicle crosses Spadina Ave. and the 510 Spadina rails.

In all the U.S.A. there is likely only one location -- in San Francisco -- where two light rail or streetcar tracks cross over another pair at grade.  In Toronto this happens often -- about a dozen places in all.  In some cases not all the rails are in revenue use, but in at least ten instances, four along Spadina Ave., four along Bathurst St., and one each further to the east and to the west, active lines intersect.  At many of these points multiple switches allow for movement from one line to another.  There are many photographic opportunities for complex patterns of tracks and wires.
