Before the next stop, Union Station/S 19th, the line becomes double tracked
in its right of way on the median of Pacific Ave. The streetcar in
this view is just about to encounter the switch.
Many
of the buildings visible in the photo date to a much earlier era in the
city's history. Tacoma is an old city, by Western standards, and
has seen
many ups and downs.
