The rear end of a light rail train is just about to
vanish from sight in this view taken from the overpass along Natural
Bridge Rd. near the UM-St. Louis South station. The age of the
overpass wall indicates that this part of MetroLink runs along a much
older transportation corridor, a former Wabash Railroad
route. A danger sign warns pedestrians of the
electric current below.
Lambert Airport lies far beyond the boundaries of St. Louis, but the
city operates the facility. There are a bewildering number of
small municipalities with irregular boundaries in this part of St. Louis
County. The University of Missouri-St. Louis is also beyond the
limits of center city, but carries a St. Louis street address.
