Lander St. in this view taken during early Central Link construction.
There is little or no evidence that a light rail station (SODO) will
arise ahead in ensuing years.
Although there are numerous street crossings in the Rainier Valley,
only the intersections in the SODO area are controlled with crossing
gates and standard warning signs and lights.
The soaring and somewhat ungainly structure to the left is the
retractable roof of Safeco Field, home to baseball's Seattle
