CENTRAL LINK LIGHT RAIL
Alongside Freeways

It is more than five and one-half miles from Rainier Beach to the next stop outbound, Tukwila International Blvd. -- surely among the longest intervals between stations on American light rail.  An intermediate station along the line as originally planned has been deferred because of other funding priorities.

Trains achieve their highest running speeds, 55 miles an hour, around here.  Much of this stretch is elevated, and parts parallel three different freeways.

This view is through the operator's cab, and out the front window.  Interstate 5 is to the left.  Traffic is busy, but flowing freely on this Saturday morning.
